It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Emerson Rapp, who left us peacefully on January 27, 2026, in his 83rd year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sue, and their children Greg (Megan) and Laura. He was the beloved Grandpa to his three grandsons, Brendan, Justin, and Simon Rapp. Wayne is also survived by his brother, Harold.
Wayne was a chronic tinkerer, a storer of things-never-to-be-used-again, a loud whistler, a proud accountant, a devourer of leftovers, and an incredible man. Nothing brought him greater joy than boat rides on Balsam Lake, “going alone” in Euchre (often with only 9’s and 10’s in his hand), getting the trial balance to balance, spotting a ’57 Chevy driving down the highway, or sipping a rum and Coke after a long day.
His motto in life was “if you are going to do something, do it right”. And that, he always did. These values were visible in him from a young age. As an 11-year-old, he was delivering prescriptions on bicycle during Hurricane Hazel. He didn’t stop until his route was complete; at least that is how the story goes!
He set an incredibly high bar for what being a Good Samaritan truly was. When he saw something that needed to be done, he just went and did it. Whether that was cutting an elderly neighbour’s lawn, being the first family to soccer games to set up the nets, or helping a stranger push their car out of a snowbank, Wayne didn’t hesitate for even a minute.
Wayne never stopped working hard or caring deeply for his friends, family, and neighbours.
To the many friends who visited him at Ross Memorial Hospital over the last few months, your visits meant so much to him and brought him endless joy.
