Peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday morning, October 14, 2023, in his 81st year. Beloved husband and best friend of Joanne Hughey (nee Wilson). Loving father of Sherry (Butch). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Dylan and Jordan and by his god-daughter Nichole. Wayne was the last surviving member of his family. Predeceased by his parents Harry & Eva Hughey, his brother Doug and his sister Bev. Also lovingly remembered by his niece and nephew. Wayne worked for Kaufman's Furniture, Goodyear in Collingwood, Ontario, and later Wilberforce Veneer and Klapow's Planing Mill. He enjoyed hunting and trapping in the Haliburton Highlands and most of all, spending time with his family.
