Peacefully, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Haliburton Highlands Hospital, Veronica passed away in her sleep with her dear friend Barb Perog by her side.
Veronika is survived by her sisters, Agnes Vogt and Johanna Stemmler, her nieces, Gisela Schulte, Elisabeth Muhlenkamp, Margaret Rohlmann, Martha Muhlenkamp, Patricia Ramaker, her nephews, Michael Vogt, Bernhard Rohlmann, Willi Rohlmann, and Joachim Stemmler.
Born in Munster Germany, Veronica trained to become a registered nurse. She moved to Canada in the 1950s and worked as an RN for over 30 years. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many patients. As a cottage owner on Drag Lake, Veronika fell in love with Haliburton and decided to move there from Toronto when she retired. Veronica was an active and dearly loved part of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church community for decades. She was a Eucharistic Minister who delivers communion to many shut-ins at Extendicare in Haliburton. She spent countless hours also volunteering for the 4 C’s program in Haliburton. She led the Rosary at St. Anthony’s church and her devotion to the Blessed Mother was very evident to all. Veronika was the longest-living member of the CWL in Haliburton. She will be dearly missed and cherished by her close friends Allison Hunter, Gina Mazara, Doris Martin, and many others at St. Anthony’s.
She was an amazing example of strength, courage, faith, and devotion to her Lord Jesus.
She will be dearly missed by her lifelong friends Theresia Biemann and Margaret Rautenburg, her God daughter Dorothea and Sarah Biemann and her many family members in Germany.
