It is with deep love and fond remembrance that the family of Ted Burbidge announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by family, on April 7, 2026, at the age of 85.
Ted was born on May 16, 1940, in Guelph, Ontario, to Norman Alfred and Elsie Jane (Creamer). He was the middle of three children and is survived by his sister Marilyn and brother Peter (Ann). Ted graduated from the Hamilton Institute of Technology as a textile technologist and went on to have a successful career in sales and business.
Ted started coming to Halls Lake as a young boy, beginning a connection that would span 80 years. He enjoyed working with his hands and, in 1972, started to build his own cottage. It was a lifelong labour of love and, eventually, the family cottage became their permanent home, a true reflection of his dedication, craftsmanship, and love for Halls Lake.
Ted had a great sense of humour and lived a life full of love and adventure, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends from all over the world. Whether it was a building project at the cottage, water, or winter skiing, fishing, curling, dancing, golfing, doing community volunteer work, or hanging around the pond with the beavers, he found joy in life’s everyday moments.
Ted will be forever in the hearts of his wife of 61 years, Elaine, and his children James (Jenny) and Jennifer (David). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Sal), Melissa, Zachary, Ben, Holly, and great-grandchildren Matthew and Alessio. Ted will be dearly missed and in the hearts of all who knew him.
