Shirley Appleton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Appleton, who left us peacefully on January 15 th in her 96 th year after a brief illness. Mom was a beloved wife, parent, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose kindness and laughter left a mark on all that knew her. Predeceased by her husband Robert Appleton of over 30 years and her son Michael Nesbitt who she will now join in heaven. Loving mother of Nancy (Ken) Gidge, Janet (Doug) Weedon, Janice (Bob) Caster and stepmother of Rick (Tess) Appleton. Fondly remembered by her many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Also cherished friend of Judy Sterling-Cox who has provided immense love and support of Shirley for the past 3 years to which meant the world to Mom… you became another member of our family. Mom was also surrounded by her wonderful neighbours who were great friends and continued to always be there even after she left her home. For you we will always be grateful. A special thank you goes out to Extendicare in Haliburton for watching over Mom for the last year and a half. You truly are amazing people. The kind and compassionate care that you provided Mom did not go unnoticed…thank you.

Private Celebration Of Life

A private celebration of Shirley's life will take place in the spring. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Extendicare in Haliburton would be appreciated by the family.
