It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Stirling (nee Naismith) on March 3, 2025, at the age of 90. Sarah was born on July 31, 1934, in Toronto, the beloved daughter of Thomas and Sarah Naismith (both predeceased.)
Sarah was predeceased by her loving husband Robert and grandson James, who she is now reunited with. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Janette (Frank) and Judi (Dan). She was a proud grandmother to Corinne, Amy, Ashley, and Daniel, and a cherished great-grandmother to Alexandra, Austin, McKayla, Hollye, Teghan, Hailey, Isaiah, Luca, Hunter, Weston, and Everett. Sarah was also a great-great-grandmother to Hudson and Sawyer, who brought her much joy.
Throughout her life, Sarah demonstrated immense dedication to both her family and her career. She was a pioneering woman who served as a police officer with the Metropolitan Toronto Police before transitioning to a role as a loan supervisor with CIBC. Her hard work and commitment to her professions were matched by her love for those around her.
In 1999 after the death of her husband Robert, Sarah fulfilled their dream of retiring to Wilberforce, where they renovated a century farmhouse that became the center of all family's gatherings. In Wilberforce, Sarah immersed herself in the community, participating in curling, bingo, and countless lunch and dinner gatherings with her neighbors and friends. It was in this picturesque town that she found peace, purpose, and lasting friendships.
Sarah will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She touched the lives of many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
