Rosemary Anne Hammerschmidt passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 92.
Anne was born on September 3, 1934, on Monmouth Road in Windsor, Ontario. She was the daughter of Christian Friis and Mary Calder. She grew up in Windsor and spent much of her life there. She was a well-known and trusted real estate agent in Windsor for more than 20 years. She helped many families find their homes and built lasting relationships across the community she loved.
Later, she moved to Mississauga, Ontario, and opened her own Electric Fireplace Shop. Her spirit, independence, and business sense showed in everything she did. She brought warmth to her customers' homes, and to everyone who knew her. Anne loved the big-band music of Glenn Miller, and she will be remembered for her strength, her determination, and her devotion to her family. She is now at peace in God's loving care.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Hammerschmidt, in 2019. She is survived by her children, George Hammerschmidt (Alison), Katie Hammerschmidt (David Howe), and Stephen Hammerschmidt. She was a proud grandmother to Kyle and Wesley Hammerschmidt, sons of George and Alison, and Ethan and Andrew Howe, sons of Katie and David.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at The Salvation Army Toronto Grace Health Centre for the compassion, dignity and comfort they gave Anne in her final days.
