Rosemary Malott Obituary

It is with profound sadness and with grateful hearts for a life so deeply loved that we announce the passing of Rosemary Diane Malott, who passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital on September 3, 2026, with the loves of her life, Lisa, Ethan, Ella and Rylee, holding her hands and held close in her heart.

Rosemary spent much of the summer in hospitals, facing each challenge with the incredible bravery, strength and determination that so many who knew her had come to admire. And, in true Rosemary fashion, she found a way to make it for one of the most beautiful and meaningful days of her life—the wedding of her beloved grandson, Ethan Carl, to his sweetheart, Rylee Campbell. She was so proud to be there. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of her summer and a memory her family will treasure forever.

Rosemary was a devoted and supportive mother to her daughter, Lisa Malott, and a loving grandmother to Ethan and Ella Carl. She welcomed Rylee into the family with love and affection, and was so happy to see her beloved grandson find his partner in life. She was especially excited to know that Ethan and Rylee are expecting the family’s first great-granddaughter—a little girl Rosemary was eagerly looking forward to meeting and loving.

Born in Windsor, Rosemary eventually settled in Haliburton with her husband, Bruce Arthur Malott (predeceased), where they spent the remainder of their lives together, living, working, raising their family and loving the outdoors and the beautiful natural surroundings they were fortunate enough to call home.

Rosemary was a dedicated teacher throughout her career, touching the lives of many students with her care, patience and commitment. She had a deep love of music, reading and singing and was a longtime and active member of the St. George’s Anglican Church choir, where her voice became part of the fabric of the community she loved.

Family was always at the heart of Rosemary’s life. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Janice and her husband Mark of Kingsville; her brother Larry and his late wife Tina of London; her brother Greg and his wife Valerie of Windsor; her sister-in-law Donna and her late husband Stuart of LaSalle; her late brother-in-law Harry Jr. and his late wife Vivian of Livonia; and her many nieces, nephews and extended family members, all of whom were an important part of her life.

There is something especially fitting about imagining Rosemary and Bruce together again. After a lifetime of working side by side, building a life together and taking on whatever came their way, she can now join Bruce once again, and no doubt get right back to working alongside him on his next endeavour. Rosemary and Bruce were especially proud of the little piece of paradise they called home. They lived across the lake from the hospital for their entire life in Haliburton and took great comfort and pride in knowing that their community had its own hospital. They could see it from their living room window, and even during her recent hospital stays, Rosemary loved telling people, with pride, that she lived right across the lake.

Rosemary will be reunited with her beloved Bruce, returning together to the place they called home. Rosemary leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, music, lessons taught, adventures shared and a family who will carry her with them always.

She was brave.

She was strong.

She was devoted.

She was deeply loved.

And she will be missed more than words can say.
