Netty Alexander (nee Paats) Obituary

Alexander, Netty – (Retired MPAC Director)
January 13, 1954 – May 11, 2023

Netty, 69, of Algonquin Highlands, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Den Hague, Netherlands to her predeceased parents Arthur and Deonisia Paats. She came to Canada when she was 6 months old and grew up in Courtice, Ontario where she attended Courtice Highschool.  She is survived by the love of her life, husband of 40 years, Dave Alexander. Loved mother of Shawna Lee (David), Shannon Todd (Andrea), and Derrick Alexander (Diane).  Loving grandmother of Connor (Taylor), Shane, Mikayla, Evrett, Zachary and Charlotte and step-grandmother of Joe, Tori, and Jack. Netty will be sadly missed by her sister Diane Geer (Jim) and her brothers Hans Paats (Karen), Terry Paats (Sue), and Stephen Paats along with nieces and nephews. Dearly missed by Beverly Alexander.  She was a natural at any type of physical activity but honed her skills by being an avid golfer, a slo-pitch baseball pitcher, and a 10-pin bowler, where she developed lifelong friendships. She started her employment career in different areas before choosing to become a permanent employee of the provincial government in 1982. She held various roles which led her to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation where at retirement in January 2013 she was an Acting Director of IT. She loved her work and all the wonderful friends she met along the way. Netty retired at her home in Algonquin Highlands where she spent time with neighbours, volunteered at Abbey Gardens and was involved in local ladies’ golf league. She and Dave golfed regularly at Lakeside Golf Course with great friends. Netty was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
