Maxwell Burk Obituary

The family of Maxwell Burk (Poppa, Mac, and Max), are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Haliburton Hospital, in his 100th year. Loved by his late wife Connie (Bennett). Loving father to Roy (Julie), Ross (Laurie) and Lorrie (Larry). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Sarah (Devin), Bradford (Krystle), Jeff (Katelyn), Sammi, Rachel (Carl), Heidi (Blair), Jessie (Jon), and great-grandchildren Kenzie, Jaxon, Zaylee, Nathan, Maxwell, Lexi, and Ottlie. He is predeceased by his great grandson Parker, by his parents, Rowena (Rue) and Robert Burk, and his siblings Dave (Audrey), Pearl (George), Bessie (Frank) and Harry (Margaret). Mac is survived by his sister-in-law Marlene (Jim). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and his grumpy cat Squeaks.

Mac loved and was loved by the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, also having an extra special love for Eddie, Barry, Travis, and Don.

Mac loved to golf, play cribbage and was an avid watcher of curling and hockey (a constant supporter of the Maple Leafs). After the passing of Connie, he learned to bake an exceptional butter tart, peanut butter cookie, and sticky buns. At the age of 95 (during COVID) he learned (with great determination) how to Zoom into the weekly Jehovah’s Witnesses meetings. He was born in Lochlin and lived his entire life in Haliburton County. Mac worked as a butcher most of his life, teaching several others the trade and it was through this that he made countless friends in the Community. He was also the fixer and builder of many things. It was a well lived and much loved 99 + years. Mac will be greatly missed.
