Mary Ann Dupuis was born on May 5, 1944, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in St. Charles and remained deeply rooted in her Northern Ontario heritage. In 1969, she married Edmund “Ned” Calvin Legge, and together they built a life filled with adventure, love, and family.
They lived around the world—including in India, Ireland, and across Canada—before eventually settling in the United States. After their divorce in the early 1980s, Mary Ann returned to Canada to be closer to her family.
She later shared a loving, long-term partnership with her boyfriend Earl, whose companionship brought her great joy until his passing.
Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her children: Gloria Gudmundsen (Harold Gudmundsen), Grace Kuck (Michael Kuck), and Andrew Legge (Tegan). She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Drew, Cheryl, Grace, Walter, Kasey, Jesse, Michael, Matthew, Cammie, Nessie, and Emmett. She was predeceased by her grandson, the late Harold Donovan Gudmundsen (Nov. 2023). She was also a proud great-grandmother of seven.
Mary Ann was one of seven siblings and is survived by her beloved sisters, Rachelle St. Louis and Pauline Arbour. She was preceded in death by her parents, all but two of her siblings, and her former husband, Ned Legge.
She loved to knit, play bingo and cards with her friends, and most of all, spend time with her grandchildren.
In her later years, Mary Ann made her home at Haliburton Gardens in Haliburton, Ontario, where she was surrounded by kindness and friendship. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Haliburton Gardens, and especially to her dear friend Dorothy, whose companionship meant so much.
Mary Ann’s legacy is one of resilience, curiosity, and deep love for her family. She will be remembered always and missed dearly.
