Maria Saeta

In loving memory of Maria dos Anjos Botelho, born October 14, 1932, in Vila Franca do Campo, Água de Alto (São Miguel), Portugal, to João Botelho de Medeiros and Maria de Jesus Maurício.

She was a proud, kind, and loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and animal lover. She passed away peacefully at home and was able to be in her own bed with peonies from her late husband’s garden on her bedside and her daughter by her side.

Generous and witty, she had an amazing sense of humour and enjoyed crocheting, reading, or watching funny movies with family. Immigrating to Canada in 1963, she and her Husband (Jose Jacinto Saeta) settled in Mississauga and Coboconk, later moving to Ottawa in 2016.

She will be reunited with those who predeceased her, including her daughters (Mary and Conceição), her husband, her parents, and five siblings. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Fatima, her son-in-law Lucio, her grandchildren Mike, Katie, Chris, and Cassandra, and her great-grandchildren Jonathan and Taya. 

She will never be forgotten, and her spirit will be with us always.

Funeral Service

The Service will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the COBOCONK COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 6644 Hwy. #35 Coboconk, Ontario K0M 1K0 (705) 454-3913. Prayers will be held prior to the Service. Flowers for an intimate family service can be purchased by clicking the link below. Alternatively, donations can be made in Maria’s name to St. Joe’s Women’s Centre in Ottawa, where she donated crocheted blankets for Women in need.
