Laurie Kathryn Burk

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurie Kathryn Burk, who left us peacefully on September 20, 2026. Laurie was a beloved wife, parent, grandparent, and sister whose kindness and laughter left a mark on all who knew her.

Laurie is survived by her loving husband, Ross Burk; their children Bradford (Krystle), Rachel (Carl), and Heidi (Blair); and Jessie (Jon). She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Zaylee, Max, Ottlie, Kohen, and Asher. Laurie will be deeply missed by her siblings Holly (John), Gail, brother-in-law Glenn, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, Bill and Hazel Elliott, and sister Heather McMichael.

Laurie was a devoted hairdresser in the community for over 40 years. She was an avid knitter who donated her time to making prayer shawls for the St. George’s Anglican Church Prayer Shawl Ministry. We would like to thank all of Laurie’s trusted clients and families throughout the years, as many became important people in her life.

We would like to say a thank you to the staff at the Haliburton Hospital that cared for Laurie in her final days. Special thanks to Michael, Morgan, Jessica, Dr. Charlotte Deacon, and the Haliburton Family Health Team.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Laurie’s life will take place at a later date; details to be announced. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Laurie’s memory may be made to the HHHS Foundation or the St. George’s Anglican Church Prayer Shawl Ministry.
