John went to sleep on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in beautiful Haliburton, surrounded by the serene rolling hills of Northern Ontario, and the deer and two fawns that visited regularly out his window!
He is happily reunited with his partner Ricky Hyott (May 20, 2013), and greeted by his parents Elmer and Dorothy, his brothers Fred and Stephen, along with his infant children Alexander and Anastasia Middleton.
Survived by his children; Liane (William), Brad (Lorissa), and, Derrick (Kelly); his Grandchildren Cailey (Ryan), Mac (Chloe), Jacob and Derrick, Olivia and Luke; and by his great-grandchildren Johnny, Della, and Joseph.
Thank you to Extendicare Haliburton for being "home" to John since 2022; and to his nurses and all the caregivers, who have been gracious, patient, and supportive during his residency. Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and the entire medical team at the Haliburton Highlands Health Services. Thank you to the local friends and community who have visited with John and included him in their events and shared his experiences.
John really enjoyed "Aging Together As A Community"; a vibrant group of changemakers in the Haliburton area. Thank you, Peter, Laurence, and Lynn.
