John Charles Bower

It is with great sadness that the family of John Charles Bower announces his passing.

John was born on March 13, 1939, in Preston, Ontario, and throughout his life wore many hats and followed many paths. He worked as a Machinist, Farmer, General Manager of an automation company, Restaurant owner, and ultimately became a successful Real Estate Broker serving the Wilberforce area. Whatever the role, John brought with him a strong work ethic, determination, and an ability to connect with people.

Above all else, John was a devoted husband and family man. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara Bower, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. John was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Cheryl Bolger, and her husband, Wayne, and grandfather to their children and their families. He was also a loving father to his son Gerry Bower and his wife, Kathy, and a proud grandfather to their children. John was predeceased by his beloved son, John Bower Jr., whose memory remained an important part of the family and whose legacy lives on through his son Josh and his family. John was also a cherished stepfather to Wayne Hannusch and his family, and to Dave Hannusch and his partner, Debby. Throughout the years, John's family continued to grow, and he took great pride in being a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

John will be remembered not simply for what he accomplished, but for the way he made people feel. He had a wonderful ability to make everyone feel welcome and had a genuine love for bringing family and friends together. Some of the happiest times were those spent surrounded by the people he loved, playing guitars, singing songs, shooting a game of pool, sharing stories, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company. John understood that the best moments in life were often the simple ones, when the people you cared about were gathered together having a good time. His home and his heart were always open. Whether you were family, a longtime friend, or someone John had only recently met, he had a way of making you feel like you belonged.

John wore many hats throughout his full and remarkable life, taking on different careers and challenges with hard work, determination, and courage. He was never afraid to try something new or to put in the effort needed to succeed. But when all is said and done, John’s greatest accomplishment was not found in his work. It was found in his family, his friendships, and the lives he touched along the way. That is the legacy he leaves behind, and the one that will be remembered most. He leaves behind generations of family, countless memories, many great stories, and a lifetime of friendships. John Charles Bower will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest peacefully, John. The music, laughter, stories, and good times you brought into our lives will carry on through all of us.
