It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Erica Helen Pearson (Dockrell), aged 78, who left us peacefully on March 23, 2025. After a four-year battle with dementia, Erica has been relieved of her struggles and is now at peace.
Born August 31, 1946, in England, Erica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She lived a life full of love, touching the lives of everyone she met.
Though dementia gradually took away her spirit, it never diminished the essence of the incredible woman she was. Her family and friends will forever cherish the moments of joy and laughter they shared with her, remembering the love that she gave throughout her life.
Erica is survived by her children John (Liliana), Barbara (Robert), David (Christine), and Bill, her 10 grandchildren, her 7 great-grandchildren, her sister Diana, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank (Francis John Pearson), her brother Victor, her sister Ann, and her grandson Micheal.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Bayshore Transitional Care Unit at the Traditions of Durham in Oshawa, where they cared for Erica from 2021 to 2024 and lovingly nicknamed her Queenie. Thank you to the staff at Winbourne Park Long Term Care Home in Ajax who cared for her in the last year and made her final week comforting for her and her family. Words can not express our gratitude. Also, a special thank you to her niece Margaret (Doug), who helped us care for her over the last 4 years.
Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
