Eileen Somerville (nee Winters)

Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday morning, January 20, 2025, in her 79th year.

Beloved wife of the late Casey Somerville, with whom she shared over 42 wonderful years of marriage. Loving mother of Patty, Dolly (Doug), Shirley (Neal), and Molly (Rod). Eileen was a devoted grandmother to seven cherished grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She is predeceased by her parents, George Winters and Cecile Patenaude, her sister Leoma, and by her granddaughter Tabitha.

Eileen has always been a vibrant and outgoing social butterfly, eager to bring a smile to everyone she meets. Her warmth and humor light up any room, and her kindness knows no bounds. She’s the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back without a second thought. Her hands were rarely still—always busy knitting tea towels or toques, which she gifted freely to everyone, whether they wanted one or not.

Eileen will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love leave a legacy of cherished memories.

A Graveside Service

Friends and family are invited to call at the ESSONVILLE CEMETERY, 1284 Essonville Line, Tory Hill, ON K0L 2Y0 on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 am for a Graveside Service celebrating Eileen’s life. A Reception will follow at THE COMMUNITY ROOM, 13523 Hwy. #118 Haliburton, ON K0M 1S0. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
