Dawn Heather Tufts, 74, passed suddenly on September 25, 2026, with her family by her side.
Dawn was many things to many people: a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, coffee enthusiast, Yahtzee competitor, dancer, and the life of the party.
Dawn passed away with a lifetime of memories, leaving behind her son, Steven Weaver; her sister, Betty (Trevor) Macey; her brother, Mike (Janice) James; and a seemingly endless collection of nieces, nephews, friends, and people who somehow all became family along the way. So many people called her Aunt Dawn that, at times, it seemed as though everyone she met had collectively adopted her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret James (née Tufts), her favourite, Gram Lillian Tufts (née Liscombe), brother, Paul James, and her companion, Dennis Weaver.
Dawn also leaves behind a little more laughter in the world, more stories than anyone can possibly remember correctly, and some pretty good dance moves she has passed down to her loved ones.
Dawn was fierce and a force to be reckoned with. She had opinions, and there was little point in pretending she didn't. But beneath that was an enormous capacity for love. She loved her people fiercely, loyally, and without reservation—and if you were lucky enough to be one of hers, you knew it.
Dawn rarely ended a phone call without making sure her love reached everyone on the other end. Her familiar goodbye was always: “Send everybody my love.”
So, Dawn, we will.
We will send everybody your love, and we will miss you more than words can say.
She was, without question, one hell of an Aunt Dawn.
