David John Metzger

David John Metzger sadly passed away at the age of 68, surrounded by family, after a long and difficult battle. Born in Montreal, Quebec February 18, 1956 to parents Vera Winstanley & Gordon Metzger. A devoted hard-working family man, who cherished spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Upon retiring in 2010, David & Cathy moved to Wilberforce, Ontario. 

 Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years Cathy, his children Janice, Matthew (Shawna), Shawna, Jennifer (James), and Erin (Madany) and his grandchildren Kylie, Riley, Emma, Jaeden, Julian, and Kenda, Brothers Tom (Anne), Rick (Joyce), Bruce (Sue), Brother-in-Law Gary (Betty) and sister in law Debbie as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

Celebration of Life

As David was loved by many, in different communities, there will be 2 Celebrations of Life to honour his memory. WILBERFORCE, ONTARIO ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION, 1007 Burleigh Rd, Wilberforce, ON K0L 3C0  August 31st, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION NDG (Montreal) 5455 blvd. De Maisonneuve Ouest, Montreal, Quebec H4A 1Z7, October 5th, 2024 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the HALIBURTON COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME 13523 Hwy. #118, Haliburton, Ontario (705) 457-9209.

Our lives go on without you, but nothing is the same 

We have to hide our heartache when someone speaks your name 

Sad are the hearts that love you

Living without you is the hardest part of all 

You did so many things for us 

Your heart was so kind and true 

And when we needed someone 

We could always count on you 

The special years will not return 

When we are all together
