Christina Ricketts (nee Torkalos)

The family of Christina Ricketts, are saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Haliburton Hospital, in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Morley (Moe) Ricketts. Predeceased by her parents, Spero and Sophie Torkalos, and her siblings John (Mary), Helen, and Isabel. She is survived by her sister-in-law Georgina Anne (Michael). Chris will be sadly missed by her nephew and nieces Jason (Kyla), Jody (the late Dale), Annie (Frank), Freda, Melissa, and Kathryn (Michael). Great aunt to Alexandra, Samantha, Andrew, Rowen, Ripley, Logan, Blake, Sophia, and Hannah.

Chris loved to cook and entertain, which went hand in hand. Whether it was at their apartment in Don Mills, or at the cottage on Pine Lake in Haliburton. Many family and friends have fond memories of these fun and tasty times. Chris was an avid reader, there were always books and magazines in her home. She was always looking out for new recipes.  Her favourite guinea pig was Moe. Chris loved to play cards, especially bridge. During Covid, she even learned to play online. She enjoyed her Breakfast Club and Bridge Club. She was very outgoing and lived her life to the fullest. She and Moe loved to travel. A road trip to California, early on in their marriage. Winters spent in Mexico, Texas, and Florida. Trips abroad to Portugal, and Sicily, both she and Moe had wanderlust. They were also contented to spend time on the deck on Pine Lake, looking out onto the water. Chris will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Private Funeral Arrangements

Funeral arrangements are private. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the HALIBURTON COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME 13523 Hwy. #118, Haliburton, Ontario (705) 457-9209.
