Peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital surrounded by family on Monday afternoon, July 22, 2024, in his 64th year after a brief illness. Brent Devolin was born in Peterborough to Douglas and June Devolin (Nee Sarginson). He graduated from Haliburton High School and went on to earn his BA in Economics from Trent University. It was during his high school years that he met his future wife, Laurie (nee McKnight). They were married for over 38 years. Beloved brother of Barry (Ursula), Brent was a loving father to Kurran (Lysanne), Lauren (Connor), and Spencer (Elle), and a cherished grandfather to AJ and Dougie. Son-in-law of Linda and Lyle, brother-in-law to Larry (Cheryl) and LuAnn (Steve), and uncle to George, Molly, Erin (Craig), Aiden, Jon, Andrew, and Scott. Brent will be loved and remembered fondly by not only his family but also his close friends and community. Brent's passions included fast cars, good Irish whiskey, motorcycles, and winter sports, and he deeply enjoyed spending time outdoors. Brent's mother June said, "Brent loved anything with a motor." His enthusiasm for life extended into his community involvement. Brent was actively engaged in his Church, served as Mayor of Minden Hills, participated in Rotary, contributed to the Housing Corporation, and was a member of the EORN board. Brent leaves behind a lasting legacy of dedication to his family, his church, his Community, and passion for his many interests.
