Barbara Schellenberg

Barbara Schellenberg (nee Willis), age 77 years.

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving daughter, Sara, and dear friend, Theresa.

Predeceased by her husband, David; her parents, Alma and Les Willis; her parents-in-law, Joyce and Earl Schellenberg; and other family members.

Survived by her daughter, Sara; her brothers: Bill (Amy) and Jim (Terry); sister, Donna (Dave). She is also survived by her nephews, nieces, in-laws, and a large circle of close friends whom she loved dearly.

Barbara was born May 14, 1949, in Lindsay, Ontario. She met the love of her life, Dave, in Mississauga, Ontario. They later moved to Haliburton (Dave’s hometown), where they built their home and family. Barbara built a successful career in banking, despite her many serious heart issues at a very young age. Many years later, they reconnected with an old friend from Newfoundland. That connection led to another chapter of their lives. They bought a cottage (cabin) in Baswarlos, NL, and spent every summer enjoying their beautiful surroundings and the company of their many close friends. Barbara was a very kind and generous soul. She lived life to the fullest to the very end. She was game for bingo or cards, anytime, day or night. She enjoyed these hobbies with many of her close friends. We are all truly blessed to have been a part of Barbara’s life.

We would like to thank all the health care professionals involved in Barbara’s journey. Special thanks to those who treated Barbara in her final days. Starting at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, Western Memorial in Corner Brook, and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, NL. There are truly angels among us.

Funeral Arrangements

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Barb's Life will be held at the HALIBURTON FISH HATCHERY, 6712 Gelert Road, on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1:00 - 4:00pm.
