Alfred Hayden

It is with deep sadness we wish to share the passing of Alfred Hayden Monday, April 10th, 2023 in his 81st year at the Haliburton Hospital.

He is survived by his devoted family, loved and cherished by his wife of 57 years Joanne, and their four children Katherine Hayden (Rob), Karen (Volker-Renckstorf-Hayden), Denise (Jason Glecoff), Brian (Laura Hayden). Grandchildren, Danielle, Toren, Ylvi, Kajsa, Cassidy, Colin, Gillian, and Addison. Loved and missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Howard and Louis, and brother Howard, and sisters Shirley and Evelyn.

Alfred was born in Rossland, B,C. In 1942 and graduated from UBC Vancouver in Metallurgical Engineering in 1966. It was there he met his future wife Joanne. 

His career took him and his family across Canada to Northern Saskatchewan, a small mining community of Eldorado Nuclear in Uranium City where their children were born.  Then a moved to Toronto in 1975, and eventually his own consulting company. He traveled extensively throughout the world. From Europe to the jungles of South America.

He was an avid curler, golfer, fisherman boater, and snowmobiler. He loved watching his children play sports and cheered them on.

He loved Haliburton and was looking forward to retirement in the house he spent years renovating. He was a kind compassionate man with a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He will be forever missed.

Thank you to the Palliative  Care unit at Haliburton  Hospital for the wonderful care he received. His family is truly grateful.

Celebration Of Life

A Celebration of Alfred's life will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation - Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
